In order to eat as many burgers as we want during burger month on, we really have to pump up our workout last week we headed over to The Sports Center at Chelsea Piers to check out the ViPR/TRX Fusion class. We are so glad we did..not just because we can eat more Crunch Burgers but because it is an amazing workout that you will definitely want to check out!!

The Sports Center at Chelsea Piers, is a unique full service gym and fitness club, argubly one of the best in the country and it offers some of the most cutting edge group fitness classes in New York. If you have never been, do yourself and your body a favor and check it out. VIPR/TRX Fusion is one of their Signature Program classes. The Signature classes at The Sports Center are specialized small group training classes designed to revamp traditional workouts. All classes are led by Sports Center personal trainers, who developed these dynamic and intensive programs..

Our instructor Gael Guevara (below) demonstrates how to use the TRX suspension straps. The TRX Suspension straps provide a workout that leverages gravity and your bodyweight to perform hundreds of exercises. You're in control of how much you want to challenge yourself on each exercise - because you can simply adjust your body position to add or decrease resistance.

Using the suspension straps is tricky to do at first...we won't lie..there were some embarassing moments but Gael remained calm and cool and worked with us (over and over) until we were able master the moves.

The class also uses the ViPR (pronounced viper and stands for vitality, performance and resistance) which is a weighted pipe that is used to increase upper and lower body strength while providing amazing cardio.... Gael demonstrates a move that works lower and upper body strength simaltaneouly. This piece of equipment looks innocent but is lethal...

We loved this class for many reasons (and not just because we can eat more burgers and feel less guilty) and we look forward to taking it again.
